Vintage Casa Maya Jewellery from Mexico

Image
Sometime a piece of jewellery is just too frickin awesome to pass on. I have walked away from some amazing finds with so much regret.  " Not this year! "  I decide that this year I would spend a little bit more to collect some greater pieces.  Despite only thrifting a handful of times this year( I'm limiting myself from being out & about due to co-vid) I was able to find some amazing vintage jewellery pieces. Now lets look at my new Vintage Casa Maya Cuauhtli Eagle w/ Xochitl Flowers Cuff.  Like,WOW! I mean, wow! Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagine thrifting a piece like this. Casa Maya design Cuauhtli Eagle w/ Xochitl Flower Cuff This guy is made of mixed metals, brass, sterling silver and hammered copper.  It is hallmarked : MEXICO but not the Casa Maya mark.  Many other Mexico City tallers(workshops) made replicas of this Hubert Harmon/ Casa Maya cuff in the 1950's for the tourist.  Which is most likely what I thrifted, which ...

Second Hand Craft Supply Haul

Image
I'm a big fan of using and purchasing second hand craft supplies. We have some great local places where I get a lot of my stuff at such as Talize, Value Village, BFM, Goodwill, Worth a Second Look.  You can pick up some great grab bags with an interesting mixture of things.  It gives you the opportunity to use new supplies that you would have never picked up at "Micheal's".  An added bonus to helping the planet by reusing and recycling, is that these grab bag don't cost too much.  This grab bag cost my $2.99 Let take a look at what came in the bag. First are these great bells, 15 little bags in an assortment of styles and sizes. Approx. 142 bells! I have great project in mind for these, and will post about when I get it done. Next, are the beads. 10-60" strands of gold tone beads in 4 different sizes and styles.   All the packaged bead came from a bead shop in Arcadia, Florida, Jenefa Arts & Crafts.  As far as I could find, this craft s...

Day Trippin' - Woodstock

Image
I can't believe it's Friday already!  This week has gone by too fast.  I guess it always does when your on holidays.  Bob and I took the week off just to hang out, clean and unpack.  Also to go on day trips.  Monday we drove to Woodstock(Ontario).  Why Woodstock?  Well we have been there a couple of times for The Nostalgia shows.  We always drove by a bunch of thrift stores and second hand shop.  Plus last year they opens an antique shop call "One of a Kind" which was still so new when we went that it looked like a big mess. Our first stops were some of the shop on the downtown strip, which included a consignment store, a comic shop, a bookstore and a gaming store.  Bob found a few things, me - nothing. Then we hit the Bible for Missions.  What a plethora of stuffs.  We must of spent at least 3 hours in there.  So much good stuff.  I love sewing supplies and patterns and found some nice vintage fabrics and p...

Enjoying the sun with Yetti

Image
This past week we had to put one of our cats down.  It was really sad and upsetting.  Dax was our black male cat that I had from a kitten for about 16 years.  He started dropping weight but was still eating and drinking water, then last Monday he started puking white foam all day.  When we noticed it was a bit pinky we took him to the Emergency Animal Hospital.  The doctor told us he had a large tumor in his upper ab.  With the vet's advice we decided to put him down.  It was an upsetting night. The house feels a little bit empty despite having four more cats and a guinea pig(who tends to be louder than all four cats together). This past weekend I decided to let Yetti out on the deck for the afternoon for some fresh air.   Even though we have been in this house for almost 2 years this the first time Yetti has enjoyed the outdoors. My initial  plan was to have chicken wire enclosure for her to be free to eat grass and clover, but we live i...

Been pretty busy these past holiday weeks, with family time, traveling back and forth from love one homes.  Eating treats and making treats.  Phew...that wore me out all over again!  So here are some random photos from the past 2 weeks.  Hope you enjoy them.   Picked up some pins while thrifting with my honey and his mum.   Got a hair cut.   Treats at my brothers.   The saddest little reindeer ever! Hope everyone had a great holiday!!
